30 Day MLP Challenge, Day 24 & 25: Fluttershy and Big Macintosh
This is a challenge I designed for myself in which over the next 30 days (hopefully) I'll be drawing one random character from MLP:FiM each day.
Important notice: Seeing as I clearly can't keep up the pace with one drawing a day for this challenge, it's not really considered a 30 day challenge anymore XD However, I will continue to contribute to the "challenge" until I reach the 30th drawing, but at my own pace. Life is busy :I
Quick upload because I have to leave soon! FlutterMac is adorable c:
I'll add more info later.
OK I'M BACK FROM THE CHRISTMAS PARTY I WENT TO
Anyway, I got Fluttershy and Big Mac one after the other for my 30 day challenge so I just stuck them in the same pic and BAM two days finished! I tried a new type of bristol that I bought last week; it's a Vellum finish bristol 400 Series by Strathmore, which is pretty much the highest quality bristol that was available to me. I'll have to say, this vellum was so smooth, yet at the same time gave the piece a nice subtle texture which added more depth to it compared to the smooth bristol I usually use. My markers bled more on the vellum but they seemed to blend more smoothly. I think I'll be using it again for some future pieces.
I think I may have drawn Big Mac slightly TOO big compared to Fluttershy (who looks kind of small). Ah, well. I like how this turned out because of all the vibrant colours I got to use! The orange-red flowers are actually based on a type of lily and I thought their colouration would counter Big Mac's red coat and balance the piece more. Have I told you that I love drawing different types of flowers? Yep. Flowers are so pretty c:
White gel pen is really useful!
