Metal Stormby =FallenZephyr

Traditional Art / Drawings / Fantasy

Oh man, I've haven't drawn anything this big traditionally in forever. Unfortunately my scanner ruined the light blue sky I had coloured in at the very bottom as well as the subtle shading of the clouds, but oh well. Can't really do anything about it unless I take a picture of it or something.

Anyway, this piece features Aaerus and Zephyr caught in a liquid nitrogen tornado, courtesy of Zephyr herself. In case you aren't familiar with my OCs, Zephyr is a dragon made of frozen mercury and has the ability to breathe liquid nitrogen. Yes I know liquid nitrogen doesn't naturally flow upwards but hey this is fantasy we're dealing with here! Aaerus is a wind element wyvern whose wings are held together with metal Zephyr forged onto his body. He can control various forms of weather such as hurricanes and tornados and even create vicious windstorms.

I changed Aaerus's design a little bit, particularly his stripes. I've never really liked his stripes before and they didn't look all that natural so I redesigned that aspect. His metal "band" now consists of strips of metal which allows him to breathe and move fluidly, and his wing membranes now attach lower on his body (although you can't really see it here) whereas before they weren't attached to anything. His wing structure has also been tweaked slightly (and again, you can't really see it in this piece because his wings run off the page). Zephyr's design has remained the same pretty much ever since I first designed her!

EDIT: I defined some of the clouds more so the picture flows better. I also darkened the blue sky at the bottom of the piece and added a black border so it looks all shiny and awesome!
